Fantasy Baseball Injury Report: Mike Trout, George Springer, Kenley Jansen

It’s Week 19 of the fantasy season, and we are back with another edition of the injury report to give you updates on injuries across the league.

Mike Trout hasn’t played in a game since August 1 after an ugly slide into third base against the Rays. He was diagnosed with a contusion with inflammation in his right wrist. Initially, Trout had a cortisone shot on Monday and looked like he would be able to avoid a trip to the disabled list. The Angels would ultimately place Trout on the 10-day disabled list on August 9, retroactive to August 6. This is only the second time in his career that the All-Star has been on the disabled list. He could return when he is first eligible on August 16.

George Springer slid into second base on Sunday and experienced discomfort in his left thumb. X-Rays were negative and tests confirmed that the injury is not more serious than a sprain. Springer was supposed to miss two weeks with the injury, but the Astros are confident he will not need a rehab assignment and could return on August 16 when first eligible.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen was hospitalized on August 9 because he didn’t feel right. He was sent back to Los Angeles, and he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. Jansen is expected to miss at least one month with the issue. Jansen actually missed a month of action back in 2012 with a similar condition. In his absence, the Dodgers are planning to use a closer-by-committee approach with Scott Alexander getting the first opportunity.

Here are a few more injuries we are tracking this week.
