DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 6 (2019)

DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 6 (2019)

Welcome to Week 6 of the NFL season. We have a smaller slate this week due to a couple of extra byes and a 9:30 AM London game. This week the teams on bye are the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and Oakland Raiders.

Each week, I will provide a recap of the prior week’s picks. The goal is to get three-to-four times the price of each player. The higher the value, the better the play.

Quarterback: Matt Ryan– 35.9 points (6.08x), Mason Rudolph – 9.2 points (1.80x)
Running Back: David Montgomery – 10.6 points (2.04x), Chris Thompson – 8.8 points (1.91x)
Wide Receiver: Mohamed Sanu – 15.3 points (3.64x), Auden Tate– 11.6 points (3.31x)
Tight End: Austin Hooper – 13.6 points (3.02x), Tyler Eifert – 3.4 points (1.03x)

The Atlanta Falcons’ game turned into an expected shootout that benefited three of last week’s picks. Mason Rudolph was forced to exit the game early after a scary hit to the head. He was on pace for a good performance. David Montgomery did not have the breakout game I was expecting, however, I wouldn’t give up on him yet. Streaming the tight end against the Arizona Cardinals finally backfired on us, but don’t let one week scare you away.

The goal of this article is to provide daily fantasy football advice for DraftKings value plays. Implementing a few value plays in your lineups allows for the opportunity to play the top-tier studs. The key with a value play is to find a player with a high floor that also has the opportunity for a breakout game. These value plays will be for DraftKings’ main slate each Sunday. Non-tight ends under $6K, and tight ends under $4.5K will be considered value plays.

Quarterback

Kirk Cousins (MIN): $5,200 vs. PHI
Once the wide receivers started to complain last week, it was obvious the Minnesota Vikings were going to get them involved. This led to Cousins’ first 300 yard game of the season and two touchdowns. The Vikings clearly want to run the ball, but the Philadelphia Eagles are a pass funnel defense. The Vikings may be forced to rely on Cousins a little more this game in order to get the win.

Gardner Minshew (JAC): $5,000 vs. NO
Minshew is becoming one of the best stories of the season. Facing the Saints’ defense seems like a scary matchup, but their defense on the road isn’t the same as at home. They have given up 27 points in both road games this year. Minshew has an underrated group of pass-catchers and is playing with a lot of confidence. At only $5,000, and with not a lot of value on DraftKings, Minshew seems likely to hit value this week.

Running Back

Phillip Lindsay (DEN): $5,300 vs. TEN
Phillip Lindsay always seems to produce each week. He has had at least double-digit carries and four receptions in every game but one this year. The Denver Broncos seem to want to run the ball as much as possible to prevent Joe Flacco from making too many mistakes. This has led to a great one-two punch between Lindsay and Royce Freeman. Against an average run defense, Lindsay should continue to produce good numbers for the Broncos.

Kenyan Drake (MIA): $4,400 vs. WAS
This seems like one of the best opportunities for the Miami Dolphins to win a game. They’re playing at home and against the Washington Redskins, which sets up a great chance for Kenyan Drake to show his talent. Their defense has allowed at least 120 rushing yards and a touchdown in four of five games. Drake will likely split carries with Mark Walton, but he should see the majority of them. He is also involved in the passing game seeing at least five targets in three of four games.

Wide Receiver

Dede Westbrook (JAC): $5,100 vs. NO
Most people will select D.J. Chark when picking a Jacksonville wide receiver, but I like Westbrook more this week. He has quietly put up double-digit DraftKings points in every game but one this season. P.J. Williams, the Saints’ slot cornerback, has been getting torched all year. He has allowed the third most slot receiving yards this season (Pro Football Focus). I’d expect Marshon Lattimore to shadow Chark this week, leading to plenty of opportunities for Dede Westbrook.

Jamison Crowder (NYJ): $4,000 vs. DAL
Finally, Sam Darnold is active and starting. He should provide a much-needed spark to their offense. It’s safe to throw out every game that Crowder played with Luke Falk, and focus on his one game with Darnold. 14 catches for 99 yards to be exact. Darnold loves to throw to the slot receiver, which is where Crowder lines up most of the game. Likely playing from behind against the Dallas Cowboys, Darnold will be forced to throw more than usual.

Tight End

Delanie Walker (TEN): $3,700 at DEN
DraftKings did us no favors with the tight end position this week. Delanie Walker has only caught one pass in each of the past two games, but he has a chance to catch a touchdown. He had two in the season opener and a few misses against Jacksonville in Week 3. I will only recommend one tight end this week as the best play is slightly outside the value price (Austin Hooper at $5,000).
