NFL DFS Super Bowl Stacking Advice & Strategy (2023 Fantasy Football)

NFL DFS Super Bowl Stacking Advice & Strategy (2023 Fantasy Football)

The Super Bowl is here. With that comes our last chance to play some DFS for this NFL season.

With only one game on the slate, we turn to Showdown mode to take down a tournament! It would help if you played this game to the narrative you think it will become. If the game hits the under, leaning on defense and short yardage/PPR plays may be your best bet. If you believe this is a shootout that hits the overs, you have to go for the big plays within the game.

Finally, it would be best to build leverage by finding the right fades in your lineup. With all these thoughts, figuring out where we want to go can get confusing and challenging.

NFL DFS Super Bowl Stacking Advice & Strategy

Let’s break down a few plays to help you decide who should be in your lineup.

Travis Kelce (TE – KC)

I don’t know if Kelce could be faded in your lineup. Yes, you can create HUGE leverage if you fade him and he has a bad game. However, even in the Super Bowl game against the Buccaneers, where Mahomes returned to the human level, Kelce still accumulated 10 receptions for 133 yards.

Kelce is this team’s number-one receiver. In past articles, we spoke of elite size and ability. No one covers this definition like Kelce while facing the 20th-ranked PFF team against TEs this season.

Who do we stack with Kelce in this Super Bowl?

Well, one may expect Patrick Mahomes. I’m going to explain why you fade this narrative and instead stack him with… Jerick Mckinnon.

Mahomes, the MVP, is a fantastic player. We are not taking anything away from who he is. However, he does enter this game with a high ankle sprain. This injury will limit his rushing and mobility within the pocket. This injury also limits his ability to be a Konami code quarterback and avoid this ferocious Eagles’ pass rush.

If we play Mahomes, we are banking on him hitting a 300-yard game with 2.5 or more touchdowns. Let the field go for that play. As we remember, the last time he was in the Super Bowl dealing with injuries around his team, he returned to mortal levels. Instead, to have a slice of Mahomes and his production in your lineup, let’s use Mckinnon.

Jerick McKinnon (RB – KC)

With injuries surrounding the wide-receiver core tied into the fact that Mahomes’ injury limits his mobility, the dump-off to the running back in the passing game becomes an exponentially important point to the narrative of this Super Bowl. We have seen the Chiefs lean on McKinnon in the passing game, and now they will face an Eagles’ defense that struggles against running backs in the passing game.

The Eagles’ defense allowed a top-10 total of receptions to the position during the season. McKinnon should be used within the Chief’s game plan and will become necessary to relieve the pressure that this Eagles’ defense brings game in and game out.

Jalen Hurts (QB – PHI)

Here we have a quarterback in Hurts who can also produce an RB1 stat line. He is a must within your lineup, especially with the Chiefs’ defense allowing the fifth most rushing yards to the position. The Chiefs also allow the fourth most rushing attempts to the quarterback position and the third most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Hurts is a must-play within your lineup.

Kenneth Gainwell (RB – PHI)

We like to lock up the rushing attack against the Chiefs, as this is the bread and butter of the Eagles’ offense. With Miles Sanders costing too much to fit with all the above players in your lineup, we shift to Gainwell.

Gainwell has seen more action within the playoffs, carrying the rock 26 times over two games. He has also seen two or more targets in each game. As a running back seeing close to 15 touches a game heading into a matchup with a defense that allows the second most targets to the running back position, Gainwell becomes a crucial cog within our lineup.

A.J. Brown vs DeVonta Smith

Most lineups will feature one of these stud wide receivers. How do we decide which is better to stack with Hurts in our lineup construction? Well, let’s keep it simple.

When they are relatively close in price yet have the same ability to break the ceiling with their production, you should lean toward the cheaper option. In this case, that’s Smith. This maneuver will allow for more cash within the rest of your roster to create the optimal lineup.

The Super Bowl is like a second Christmas, especially to someone who is an Eagles fan like yours truly. So, remember to do your research with all our tools here at FantasyPros. If you need any help this Sunday, please reach out on Twitter.
