Q. Which player outside of the top 100 in the FantasyPros flex rankings is a good sleeper start and why do you think he has upside this week?

Taysom Hill (TE – NO)
“He may seem like a gamble, but I like the odds of Taysom Hill scoring at least one touchdown this week. The Saints are at home against the Bengals, and due to injury, may be without Michael Thomas (foot) and Chris Olave (concussion). Taysom Hill has proven himself to the coaching staff, and to the fantasy football world. The way they used him in the last game contributed heavily to the Saints’ win. It would be prudent for the coaching staff to include him in the game plan, especially since Jameis Winston is coming back from an injury. Plus, he’s listed as a tight end who plays quarterback and running back too. He’s the Swiss army knife of football. The best part: He’s likely available in your league. Pick him up and start him.”

Isaiah McKenzie (WR – BUF)
“Prior to leaving in the third quarter of Week 4 with a concussion, McKenzie’s usage was trending upward. In week 3, he played 52% of the snaps and ran 37 routes with nine targets and was pacing towards the same totals in Week 4. Khalil Shakir played well in his absence, but Jamison Crowder will be sidelined again in what should be a high-scoring affair and a favorable matchup. The Chiefs are allowing 22.48 PPR points per game out of the slot, the eighth most in the league. Consider McKenzie a flex play this week in Kansas City.”
Chad Workman (Fantasy Scouts)

Hayden Hurst (TE – CIN)
“One of my sleepers for this week is tight end Hayden Hurst. Playing on 81% of the offensive snaps last week, Hurst has now recorded a touchdown in back-to-back games. Drawing seven targets, I think this will continue, as star wide receiver Tee Higgins is hobbled by an ankle injury. In a tight end landscape that is scarce, Hurst will make for a good option.”
Matt Gruber (FantasyPros)

Evan Engram (TE – JAC)
“Evan Engram led the Jaguars in targets/catches the last time Jacksonville played the Colts, and he saw 10 targets just last week. He’s got a nice role — 80% route participation — so he’s got ample opportunity to soak up looks in a favorable matchup. The Colts have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to the TE position this season.”
Andrew Erickson (FantasyPros)

Alexander Mattison (RB – MIN)
“A lot of fantasy managers are dealing with RB injuries, and it doesn’t help that a lot of good running backs — Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Dameon Pierce and the Lions’ RB duo — are on bye this week. There’s a case to be made that Alexander Mattison is a playable fantasy option this week even with Dalvin Cook active. Cook is healthy enough to play, but that doesn’t mean he’s entirely healthy. Cook has been dealing with a shoulder injury, which is why Mattison has been getting weekly snap shares of close to 40% in recent weeks. Mattison had nine carries and three catches in Week 5 and could get double-digit touches again this week against the Dolphins. Miami will be forced to start third-stringer Skylar Thompson at quarterback, so the Vikings are likely to have a positive, run-friendly, Mattison-friendly game script.”

Q. Which player inside the top 40 in the FantasyPros flex rankings is likely to disappoint fantasy managers this week?

Najee Harris (RB – PIT)
“Najee Harris. The Buccaneers have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to RBs this season. And the Steelers RB reached just 20 yards in Week 5. He earned just four targets on 52 attempts from Kenny Pickett. No. 2 RB Jaylen Warren had more targets (5), ran more routes and compiled more yards from scrimmage (63 versus 36). Now Warren did see the majority of his production in fourth-quarter garbage time, but those garbage points still count. And it matters that Harris isn’t out there when the team is trailing by so much – which is likely the case in Week 6 versus the Buccaneers. Harris’ every-down role from 2021 is long gone with the coaches looking to get Warren more involved.”
Andrew Erickson (FantasyPros)

“Najee Harris is likely to continue to disappoint you against the Buccaneers fourth-ranked fantasy defense. With a rookie QB leading the Steelers offense, and Najee not living up to first-round fantasy draft pick expectations through five weeks, I’d anticipate another upsetting performance in Week 6 from him. If you have a better option, like Eno Benjamin, don’t think twice about benching Najee. I know it’s not easy, but if you detached the name from the player, you might be starting him in your flex, at best.”
Tal Malachovsky (The Fantasy Scout)

Mike Williams (WR – LAC)
“Mike Williams. Historically a boom or bust player, that aspect of Williams’ game has not changed this season. He’s topped 100 yards in three contests while finishing with 15 or fewer in two games, finishing anywhere from WR8 to WR102. Not only is Keenan Allen likely to return this week, but Williams will see a heavy dose of Patrick Surtain II on Monday night. Surtain has yet to give up a touchdown this season and is allowing just 7.9 yards per reception. Expectations for Mike Williams should be lowered this week.”
Chad Workman (Fantasy Scouts)

Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB – KC)
“Clyde Edwards-Helaire has had double-digit carries in only one of Kansas City’s five games this season. He’s played 45% of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps and has played only nine more snaps than Jerick McKinnon. CEH is the RB9 in half-PPR fantasy scoring because he’s scored five touchdowns in five games. He’s had 100 yards from scrimmage only once, and this week he faces a Bills defense that has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to RBs.”
Pat Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros)

“After a down Week 5, I think Clyde Edwards-Helaire will again disappoint fantasy managers. This week, facing a stout Buffalo defense that ranks second in rushing yards allowed and third in rushing yards per attempt, it may be difficult for Edwards-Helaire to get anything going. Playing on an average of just under 45% of the offensive snaps, we are banking on a touchdown or two for Edwards-Helaire to pay off.”
