The Baltimore Ravens' starting defense heads into the final week of the preseason having shut out every opponent thus far. Following Saturday's 13-9 victory over the Buffalo Bills, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported that, "Terrell Suggs and the first-team defense didn't allow a point in nine drives this entire preseason, including four physically dominating ones against the Bills. Baltimore, which entered the game with the No. 1 defense in the preseason, isn't expected to play its starters in the preseason finale Thursday at New Orleans. Baltimore Ravens DST remains strong despite loss of Albert McClellan photo
NFL.com reported that Ravens linebacker Albert McClellan will miss the 2017 season with a torn ACL. McClellan started in 11 of 16 games for Baltimore last season, tallying 55 tackles and one sack. The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec wrote that, "the loss of McClellan, one of the longest-tenured Ravens, leaves the team extremely young at inside linebacker behind C.J. Mosley and subtracts another accomplished special teams player from a mix that also lost Kyle Juszczyk, Zachary Orr and Kamar Aiken during the offseason."

Kamalei Correa growing into starting inside linebacker role photo
Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun reports that despite a missed tackle against Miami Dolphins, coaches are high on second year linebacker, Kamalei Correa. Correa, writes Lee, has been projected as the starter at the weak-side linebacker position previously occupied by Zachary Orr. “I think he played well,” defensive coordinator Dean Pees said Wednesday. “There are certainly some things he can get better at, like we all can. But I’m pleasantly surprised by some of it. I think he’s grasping everything. He has very few — if any — mental mistakes. I think that sometimes just because he hasn’t played in there a whole lot, sometimes when you get a new play that you have never seen before, you might be a little slow reacting to it. But that’s pretty normal for a guy that’s playing the position for the first time really inside. So I’ve been pleased with him so far. The guy runs to the ball, I think he’s trying to really play physical, and he looks like the guy that we drafted.”

Downing reports that Webb has impressed the coaching staff with how well he’s performed. “He’s having the best camp he’s had in a while,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said. “I really love the way he’s playing, love his attitude, everything about what he’s doing, leadership-wise is part of it, but he’s doing it by example. He’s doing it by the way he practices and the way he plays every single day.”

Baltimore Ravens defensive backfield expects to be dominant photo
According to an AP article published on Fox Sports, the 2017 Baltimore Ravens' defense should be stronger than it was in 2016. By adding talent and depth to the secondary, the Ravens addressed their most obvious need during the offseason. Joining cornerback Jimmy Smith and safety Eric Weddle are free agent pickups Brandon Carr and Tony Jefferson, and Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey who was drafted in the first round of last year's draft.
