Week 8 Fantasy Football Trade Chart (2020)

Week 8 Fantasy Football Trade Chart (2020)

We’re rapidly approaching the trade deadline in several leagues. For some of you, there’s only another week or two to help your teams. For others, you’re searching for the right deal to take you over the top. And to help you find the right trade, always consult the trade charts below.

The trade charts are not one-size-fits-all values, and the merit of any trade depends on your particular roster. As always, you should consult our many other trade tools, including the trade analyzer and trade finder tools in MyPlaybook. But the chart is always a good jumping-off point.

A reminder that the numbers presented are not FAAB dollars, but rather a way to measure the trade value of any player. Just add up the totals on both sides of the trade in the proper format, and judge whether a deal makes sense in a vacuum.

There are a few interesting developments with the quarterback position. Kyler Murray is effectively the top quarterback in terms of trade value (he’s my second quarterback overall, but it’s a 1A and 1B situation with Russell Wilson. His rushing prowess and progress generally is too much to ignore.

Justin Herbert is legitimate, Carson Wentz may not look pretty but gets it don with a light schedule, and Tom Brady, Joe Burrow, and Drew Brees are all worthy potential starters in QB1 leagues. It’s a good year to have waited on quarterbacks in your draft. Like all years.

Yes, you should be worried about Ezekiel Elliott. The offensive line is banged up, the quarterback situation is terrible, and he’s had fumbling woes. But, he’s still Elliott. You want to swap him for Jonathan Taylor or James Robinson (who yes, is a top-eight back), go for it. But that’s about as low as I’m going.

As one astute reader pointed out, Antonio Gibson bounces around the trade value chart a bit each week. That’s fair. But he’ll usually stay between RB20 and 25 unless the Washington Football Team fully commits to him. His trade value often depends on the state of the running back position, and just how much his weekly touches are worth depending on the landscape.

I am mad at myself for trusting in Ronald Jones. Yes, he’s still someone you can start most weeks (as is Leonard Fournette now), but the idea that I thought he ha shown enough to just run with the job regardless of Fournette’s healthy seem silly in retrospect. He’s outside RB2 range for me at this point. I’ll take the “L.”

You could make a case for A.J. Brown to be the fourth-ranked wide receiver going forward. He’s a special talent who is, along with his quarterback, building on the incredible efficiency he showed in 2019. He should be valued as a strong WR1, no less.

Once again, Michael Thomas’s trade value should come with a shrug emoji. He hasn’t played in Week 1, having dealt with ankle and hamstring injuries, along with a purported disciplinary issue. Perhaps he will play this weekend against the Bears and have a patented Thomas game. Perhaps he’ll be out another few weeks. I’m valuing him as the 16th wide receiver in fantasy, but I wouldn’t argue if you had him 10 spots higher or lower.

The road is clear for Travis Fulgham. DeSean Jackson is likely out for the season. Zach Ertz is out for several weeks. Who knows if we’ll see Alshon Jeffery on the field at all this season? Buy with confidence.

A healthy Diontae Johnson can do some major damage, that’s for sure. I wouldn’t jump to too many conclusions from the game against Tennessee, as the Titans seemed as confused as fantasy managers as to how the Steelers offense would attack. They made a concerted effort to take away Chase Claypool, which opened up lanes for both Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Although there’s no guarantee future games will unfold in a similar manner, Johnson certainly sees a bump in value.

Tight End

Jared Cook 5 6 -1 6 8 -2 7 9 -2
Rob Gronkowski 5 N/A +5 7 N/A +7 9 N/A +8

As usual, there is only minor movement among the values for the tight end position. Rob Gronkowski and T.J. Hockenson are within the circle of trust for the position, but man, that is a low bar. Only trade for a tight end if you’re unable to stream.
