Fantasy Football Power Rankings for All 32 Teams (2023)

Fantasy Football Power Rankings for All 32 Teams (2023)

Allow me to make a rather obvious statement.

Generally, in fantasy football, you’re better off picking players from good offenses than from bad ones.

I know what you’re probably thinking: “No, duh, captain obvious.” But as draft season ramps up, it’s important for fantasy football players to think about not just the player they’re drafting but the situation around them.

I subscribe to a talent above all mentality when deciding between players. But situation matters too. The problem is, determining which situations will be good or bad is one of the toughest exercises we can undertake as fantasy football players.

Luckily, I attempted to do the heavy lifting for you. Below are my power rankings for each NFL team from a fantasy football perspective.

2023 Fantasy Football Power Rankings

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia’s offense is loaded. Jalen Hurts is an MVP candidate with dual-threat abilities. A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert are all awesome talents, and the Eagles proved that all three can deliver fantasy value. The biggest question lies at running back, where D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny are two highly talented, highly injury-prone tailbacks who could split the workload. Throw in the league’s best offensive line, and Philly is clearly the top offense in the NFL.

2. Cincinnati Bengals

Remember, we are talking strictly fantasy here. And while there are a couple of units that might be better all-around, no team can match Cincinnati’s trio of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Joe Mixon remains a solid RB2, and the Bengals might’ve solved its woes on the offensive line by signing tackle Orlando Brown.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have the league’s best quarterback and tight end, but there are definitely questions from a fantasy perspective elsewhere. Can Isiah Pacheco become the team’s lead back in his second season? Will Jerick McKinnon have a significant presence in the passing game? Can any of Kansas City’s wide receivers emerge to be a reliable fantasy asset? The Chiefs are incredible, but Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are their only sure bets right now for fantasy teams.

4. San Francisco 49ers

There’s star power all over the 49ers offense. Christian McCaffrey could be the No. 1 overall pick. Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk are all highly dangerous fantasy weapons. It all comes down to whether quarterback Brock Purdy can replicate his late-season run across the entirety of an 18-game campaign. There are also some questions along the offensive line.

5. Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs are studs. But outside of that, questions remain. Is Gabe Davis anything more than a deep threat? Can either Dawson Knox or rookie Dalton Kincaid be trusted to start? Can Buffalo’s explosive offense finally produce a useful fantasy running back? There’s hope for James Cook, but he’s hardly a proven commodity.

6. Los Angeles Chargers

I’m bullish on the Chargers offense this year. Justin Herbert has MVP upside and should benefit greatly from the hiring of Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator. Austin Ekeler remains one of the league’s best dual-threat tailbacks. And the Chargers have an exciting receiving trio featuring Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and rookie Quentin Johnston, although the former two receivers have health concerns.

7. Dallas Cowboys

I’m not the biggest Dak Prescott believer. But it’s hard to deny the weapons Dallas has around him. CeeDee Lamb is a superstar who can produce at all three levels. Tony Pollard is a budding star who could put up a fantastic year in his first season as the featured back. I also think Brandin Cooks could be a viable depth option in fantasy leagues, as I think his decline in Houston had more to do with an awful situation than it did a rapid decline in ability.

8. Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson alone warrants Minnesota’s placement this high on the list. But there’s room for this passing game to be even better if rookie Jordan Addison can make an immediate impact. T.J. Hockenson is a top-4 tight end and one of the few at his position with a strong floor and high ceiling. Kirk Cousins is a completely serviceable low-end QB1 for all of those reasons. The question is whether Alexander Mattison can be a viable starter now that Dalvin Cook is gone.

9. Detroit Lions

This is where the exercise became difficult. The Lions could have an electric offense like they did in 2022. But there are moving parts in the backfield, with Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift being replaced by David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs. Amon-Ra St. Brown could be a PPR monster out of the slot, but the rest of the receiving room aren’t locks to be weekly fantasy fixtures. Then there’s Jameson Williams, who has incredible speed but will miss the first six games of the season. And let’s not forget we’re banking on Jared Goff to hold this all together.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars

We close out the top 10 with another Florida team. Trevor Lawrence showed his franchise QB potential last season and should only grow more in year two with Doug Pederson. And if Calvin Ridley can return to his previous form, then this offense could be ripe for an explosion. Ridley’s presence doesn’t destroy Christian Kirk‘s fantasy value, either. And the Jaguars could have a productive backfield featuring Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby.

11. Miami Dolphins

I’m a Tua Tagovailoa believer, and I was rewarded for his performance last year in Mike McDaniel’s scheme. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are quite possibly the most dynamic receiving duo in the league. And should Tagovailoa suffer another injury, I feel more confident in backup Mike White than I did in Teddy Bridgewater. The offense is a bit shallow elsewhere, and we have no idea what to make of Miami’s running back situation. But the Dolphins have enough top-end talent to be highly relevant.

12. Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore’s offense enters the year with serious upside, as well as serious questions. After a couple of injury-plagued seasons, can Lamar Jackson stay healthy and thrive in new OC Todd Monken’s offense? Can J.K. Dobbins and Rashod Bateman stay healthy enough to become legitimate fantasy impacts? What will Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham bring to a passing game that desperately needs more explosiveness? Baltimore has plenty of pieces; the question is how it’ll all come together.

13. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have a ton of enticing fantasy options. Seattle could have an outstanding receiving trio with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Kenneth Walker showed promise as a rookie, but Zach Charbonnet arrives to potentially muddle the backfield. Oh, and we are trusting that Geno Smith has an encore performance in store after winning Comeback Player of the Year.

14. New York Jets

Of all the teams on this list, the Jets feel like the team that can make me look foolish in either direction. If we get 2020-21 Aaron Rodgers, this offense could be among the league’s best. Garrett Wilson is a superstar in the making, and so is RB Breece Hall if he can return to health after suffering a torn ACL. But there’s a chance Rodgers’ best days are behind him. There’s a real possibility that Hall isn’t himself post-surgery. And New York’s uncertain receiving depth could limit Wilson’s upside. New York has a wide range of outcomes, which is why this ranking feels right. However, New York’s recent addition of Dalvin Cook gives this running game a bit more upside should Hall miss time.

15. New Orleans Saints

There’s no denying the Saints upgraded at quarterback by signing Derek Carr. The question is, how much of an upgrade will Carr be? The Saints have a potential star in Chris Olave. Michael Thomas is still there and healthy for now. Alvin Kamara is suspended three games, but the Saints brought in Jamaal Williams to supplement him. New Orleans’ offense has intrigue, but its uncertain upside is why it’s ranked in the middle of the pack.

16. Cleveland Browns

Everything in Cleveland hinges upon Deshaun Watson. If he returns to his previous form, Cleveland’s offense could be outstanding. Nick Chubb is the best back in the league, and Cleveland has a deep group at receiver with Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Elijah Moore and rookie Cedric Tillman. The offensive line still rates among the league’s best. But what if Watson flounders?

Draft Wizard

17. Atlanta Falcons

Consider me intrigued by the Atlanta offense. They have what could be the league’s top playmaker trio in rookie Bijan Robinson and pass catchers Drake London and Kyle Pitts. The offensive line is one of the best in football. But is Desmond Ridder any good? If he’s merely a game manager, and Arthur Smith sticks to his run tendencies, then suddenly, this passing game has much less appeal.

18. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have some quality pieces. Davante Adams is still one of the league’s best receivers, and I like the ancillary weapons with Jakobi Meyers and Hunter Renfrow. But Jimmy Garoppolo is a hard quarterback to count on, and Josh Jacobs is still away from the team.

19. New York Giants

New York has a superstar running back in Saquon Barkley. And coach Brian Daboll is an incredible offensive mind. But the passing game lacks a go-to threat that fantasy managers can count on. Daniel Jones offers rushing upside, but I’m still not convinced he’s good enough as a passer to repeat last year’s fantasy finish, which always felt a bit fluky.

20. Los Angeles Rams

Oh, the places this Rams offense could go. There’s a scenario where Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp team up for the bounce-back season of a lifetime, and both restore their places among the game’s best. There’s also a scenario where Stafford and Kupp struggle to stay healthy and a suspect offensive line craters. Cam Akers offers some intrigue as a third or fourth-round pick. But the Rams will be one of the league’s biggest wild cards.

21. Chicago Bears

Can Justin Fields develop enough as a passer to become the next version of Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts? That’s the top storyline for not only fantasy managers but the Bears too. The good news is Chicago brought in D.J. Moore to give Fields an insanely reliable target. He should pair nicely with big-play threat Darnell Mooney and tight end Cole Kmet. Look out for a breakout season from the immensely talented Khalil Herbert too.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers bring some mystique into the 2023 season. Diontae Johnson, Najee Harris and George Pickens give this unit some upside. But can Kenny Pickett take a leap in year two? And can an offensive line that was pretty rough in 2022 give him better protection?

23. Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love. That’s the tweet. The Packers have some talent in Aaron Jones and Christian Watson. But Green Bay lacks much depth outside of them. However, if Love is any good, Green Bay’s offense is suddenly viable from a fantasy perspective.

24. Denver Broncos

Can Sean Payton restore Russell Wilson back to life? Denver is essentially running it back in 2023, with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy once again leading the passing game. Javonte Williams also returns from a torn ACL injury, with veteran Samaje Perine backing him up. Like many teams in this area, the unit’s viability hinges upon its QB.

25. Tennessee Titans

Tennessee’s offense has some big names in Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins. And receiver Treylon Burks could be a receiver worth a flyer late in drafts. But Ryan Tannehill‘s best days are past him, and Tennessee could have one of the league’s worst offensive lines.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Remember just a year ago, when everyone wanted no part of DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett because of the fear of Geno Smith? Maybe that scenario will repeat itself with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin catching passes from Baker Mayfield. I’m of the mindset that Mayfield isn’t a terrible quarterback for anyone who rosters Evans or Godwin. You know he’ll fling it around and take chances. But the running game is uncertain, with Rachaad White reportedly injured, and there’s definitely a chance Mayfield sinks this entire pirate ship.

27. Washington Commanders

Is Sam Howell any good? If so, Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson suddenly become very interesting. McLaurin is the only guy in this offense I’m pursuing in drafts, as he puts up numbers no matter who’s under center. Washington’s running back situation is one I want no part of. However, I’ll be paying close attention to see how Eric Bieniemy deploys this group.

28. Indianapolis Colts

Jonathan Taylor‘s absence represents a black cloud hovering over the Colts’ camp. But Indy’s fantasy situation looks a lot brighter if Anthony Richardson can prove he’s a capable pocket passer. After pounding the table for Michael Pittman for years, I’m not sure I can deal with another disappointing season because of poor QB play.

29. New England Patriots

New England just sort of grosses me out. They have a real offensive coordinator now in Bill O’Brien. But I’m not sure Mac Jones is any good. And when your best receiver is JuJu Smith-Schuster, you’ve got issues. To make matters worse, the Patriots signed Ezekiel Elliott this week, which could deflate Rhamondre Stevenson‘s value.

30. Arizona Cardinals

I tend to believe Marquise Brown and James Conner are going cheap in drafts because of the negative sentiment surrounding this offense. But I get it if you want no part until Kyler Murray is healthy.

31. Carolina Panthers

Rookie QB, a new head coach and a receiving room headlined by Adam Thielen and D.J. Chark. I’ll wait and see how Bryce Young fares.

32. Houston Texans

Rookie QB, rookie coach and a receiving room headlined by… Nico Collins? I like Collins as a red zone threat with deep ball skills. And Houston has a hammer of a back in Dameon Pierce. But the offensive line is a work in progress. I’m a C.J. Stroud believer, but he may experience some growing pains as a rookie.
