Let’s just call it like it is: fantasy baseball is a more difficult terrain to navigate than ever before. Games are constantly being postponed, players are being scratched, and injuries run rampant. That’s in part because of the abbreviated summer camp.
My wife is very into her fitness, and she loves her Peloton bike. And although I usually try to balance out her workouts by doing no physical activity (based on a theory of mine that there is a finite amount of exercise that one couple can do, so I don’t want to infringe on her share) I admit that I have started using the bike on occasion.
During particularly difficult stretches of a ride, one of the trainers has a saying she likes to use: acknowledge the pain, do it anyway. Meaning that you should understand that what you’re doing hurts, accept it, and continue on regardless.
I use this phrase constantly now. Mostly when I’m convincing my wife that it’s ok to not have ice cream for a few days in a row. But really, it applies to almost any situation in which you have a task but encounter an obstacle.
Acknowledge it. Do it anyway.
And that’s where we are with fantasy baseball and trying to win your league. You are constantly navigating difficult terrain, with unexpected impediments frequently making you need to adjust.
Acknowledge the difficulty. Do it anyway.
No matter what, keep working to improve your team. Make waiver wire pickups, find your best matchups each week, and maximize your odds for success. And, of course, look to the trade market to address any deficiencies.
To help with that, consult our trade chart below. Although no trade can be addressed in a vacuum, the trade chart helps you evaluate the bones of any trade you’re considering, letting you know if you’re generally getting fair value on any offer.
